About me
Dr. Julia Stearns Cloat is an author and educator who has dedicated her professional career to public schools and the development and continuous improvement of teachers. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and has since served in a variety of roles including Literacy Specialist, Instructional Coach, Curriculum Director, Adjunct Professor and is currently the Associate Superintendent of the Freeport School District. As an author she has contributed to Larry Ferlazzo’s blog, The New Teacher’s Guide to Overcoming Common Challenges, the Curriculum of El Camino Spanish Classes and is Co-Author of Teaching Reading in Spanish: A Linguistically Authentic Framework for Emerging Multilinguals. Regardless of her role, title, or project, Julia’s work is anchored in providing equitable and accessible learning experiences through an asset-based approach to curriculum and instruction.
